Sixth edition of the Genova Design Week with more and more designers. In the Design District and throughout the city, the protagonists give life to one extraordinary event.

An opportunity for visibility and professionalism to make people realise the great potential for designers, both in terms of quality and design.

Organised by Dide – Distretto del Design di Genova, the event announces for this edition a new theme, matter, and some of the contents that have made it famous in recent years, such as Outdoor without borders, Designer Under 35, Container 02, Design Festival and the new Best Houses. GDW thus becomes the city’s heritage, thanks to the entire design sector and the quality of Genoa’s stores, which, if they organise self-organised events, will be included in the event’s communication. The central theme of Genoa Design Week 2025 will be Matter, understood not only as a construction element, but as a creative and narrative principle capable of connecting materials, forms and technology.

Matter is the starting point of design, the medium through which designers tell stories, experiment with new solutions and create objects that arouse emotions and transform spaces.

From traditional materials, such as glass, wood, marble and cement, to the most recent innovations in the field of biopolymers, recycled fabrics and biodegradable materials, research is increasingly oriented towards sustainable and intelligent solutions. Materials become expressive languages, capable of dialogue between past and future, between craftsmanship and high technology.

In this edition, designers and companies will explore the potential of materials through installations, workshops and experiments, showing how the choice of materials can redefine the aesthetics, functionality and environmental impact of objects and spaces.

From interactive surfaces to bio-based materials, from 3D printing to reactive fabrics, matter becomes the protagonist of a new way of thinking about design, capable of responding to the challenges of the present with creativity, innovation and ecological awareness.

Genoa Design Week 2025 will therefore be a journey through matter in all its forms, an opportunity to discover how design can give life to new perspectives, improving ourselves, our relationship with the environment and the way we inhabit the world.
