Genoa – Galata Sea Museum

International Biennial The Latitudes of Art

The exhibition acts as a catalyst for artistic and cultural exchanges between Italy and other European countries, serving as a bridge for constructive dialogues and creative comparisons.

“For the 2024 edition,” explains Virginia Monteverde, creator and curator of the exhibition, “we have chosen the sea as the overarching theme, an element that not only dialogues with the host city but also opens up profound reflections on the environment, humanity and our interconnection with nature.”

The works of 20 artists, equally divided between Italy and Switzerland, are on display.

Until September 3, 2024

Tagliacozzo (AQ) – Orsini-Colonna Ducal Palace

Contemporanea 24

The eleventh edition of Contemporanea, an event that will bring more than 50 contemporary artists and more than 80 works to Tagliacozzo (AQ), divided into three exhibition projects: an exhibition on the scenarios of international painting, a focus on emerging artists from Abruzzo and the exhibition Building New Worlds by the finalists of Contemporanea Prize 2024.

Founded in 2012 by Emanuele Moretti to support young Italian and international artists and enhance, through art and culture, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, the 2024 edition of Contemporanea is curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi.

The three exhibitions will be set up inside the Orsini-Colonna Ducal Palace in dialogue with the 15th-century frescoes in the Palatine Chapel, the Hall of Perspectives and the fragments and sinopites in the other rooms.

Until September 10, 2024

Salento – Parabita

Votiva

In Parabita, a permanent and widespread art collection invites people to rediscover a sense of community and redevelops the area. Featuring works by Claire Fontaine, Paladino, Pistoletto, Moro, Paci and Siedlecki, among others.

Sixteen contemporary artists, from different backgrounds and formations, are bringing to life a permanent and widespread art collection in the votive wayside shrines of Parabita, in the province of Lecce. The purpose of the project, called Votiva precisely, is to re-evaluate these historical-religious resources, which often lie in a state of neglect, but also and above all to redevelop the territory and fortify the local community’s sense of cohesion.

Hamburg – Hall for contemporary art

Survival in the 21st century

The project “Survival in the 21st Century,” conceived by George Diex and Nicolaus Schafhausen in collaboration with Deichtorhallen, posits art as an essential tool for understanding contemporary life.

Bringing together works by 40 artists, including Olafur Eliasson and Ai Weiwei, the exhibition addresses crucial contemporary issues such as ecology, technology and spirituality. The exhibition invites us to reflect on the importance of global challenges in strengthening a sense of community to ensure a sustainable and inclusive future.

the book of the month for august - the world at the window

Who among us has never been lost looking at the world outside a window?

From the classical frescoes of Pompeii to Renaissance masters, from seventeenth-century canvases to Romanticism, from the avant-garde of the 1900s to contemporary art, page after page takes shape a kaleidoscope of silent and inhabited windows, real and imaginary, intimate and playful, open to a landscape or enclosed on sacred or everyday scenes.
