Il rosso è vendicativo by Alessandra Gasparini
3 October 2024 @ 18:00 - 3 November 2024 @ 18:00

On the occasion of the opening of the new exhibition season, in the context of the event START – the white night of modern and contemporary art, the Rossetti Gallery proposes the solo exhibition “Il rosso è vendicativo” (“Red is vindictive”) by Alessandra Gasparini, a multifaceted artist whose talent becomes an emblem of freedom of expression and openness to knowledge and instinct.
Alessandra Gasparini possesses a world, inside, so imposing and so packed with suggestions and images that when it gushes onto the canvas it stretches there in complex, rich narratives, impossible to grasp at first glance. Paintings of slow and meticulous construction, impeccable in the concatenation of logical connections and, nevertheless, imbued with an instinctuality that does not go unnoticed, with a wild, untamable creativity, which is then the ingredient of enchantment.
Protagonists of Gasparini’s painting are children. Never chosen at random, beautiful with a beauty that is by no means prissy but rather harsh, rough; children who have not yet lost the ability to believe in themselves typical of childhood, the sense of omnipotence that nails the adult to the relativity of his own convictions. Not yet human, as the artist defines them, certainly not yet tamed by the mask of adulthood.
One of the artist’s unique features is his delight in continuing the narrative by adding a piece of the story behind the framed canvas. It is the space of freedom, the mockery of the limitations of the boundaries of the canvas. An installation will be placed in the atrium of Palazzo Saluzzo with the painting “I Had a Chair,” on the back of which a naked little girl appears huddled in a seat, pondering how to use the large jar of red paint she holds next to her. Nearby is the inscription, “When red calls, it is best to humor it. Red is vindictive.”
