ANDRE’ ACIMAN, WRITER OF “CALL ME BY YOUR NAME,” PRESENTS NATIONAL PREMIERE IN GENOA AND SAVONA OF HIS NEW COLLECTION OF ESSAYS

The two events will take place on October 3 and 4 at “Officine Suleiman” and “Rossetti arte contemporanea” gallery. On the same days, the first filming of the documentary dedicated to the author will take place.

The cities of Genoa and Savona are preparing to become the cradle of literature with an event of international caliber. André Aciman, writer of the famous novel “Call Me by Your Name,” will in fact be in Liguria on Oct. 3 and 4 to present the national premiere of his new collection of essays. The locations will be the “Officine Solimano” (6:30 p.m.) in Savona and the “Rossetti arte contemporanea” gallery in Genoa (6 p.m.).

The same days will also see the first filming of the documentary dedicated to André Aciman, which will be directed by independent director and producer Samuele Mancini and the collaboration of the authors, students of the University of Genoa, Alessia Spinola, Ylenia De Leonardis and Rebecca Roddolo.

The meetings and the documentary aim to bring to light the relationship of the famous international writer with Liguria, which has always been evoked in his writing. This talk proposes to highlight the strong bond between the author and the region, whose beauty and art shaped his works. “Call Me by Your Name,” his best-known novel, from which the 2018 Oscar-winning film of the same name was made, is in fact set in the Ligurian Riviera, more precisely in Bordighera.

The aim is to make people discover an unseen side of this Region, made up of villages and roads that are still little known; giving rise to a new form of tourism that goes beyond the summer season. During the two events it is intended to focus on art and literature as fundamental themes in an increasingly digitized world in which the dimension of “real life” is lost in the facets of the digital one.
